Sea World Shows: Believe

The new Believe show highlights the unique relationship between Shamu and the killer whales and their trainers. Believe is all about the whales and their trainers performing together as one.

There is a storyline to the show about a boy who was inspired by an orca whale to become a trainer. Lo and behold he grows up to be the show's main character - a Shamu trainer.

He then chooses a young audience member and gives him/her a gift of a Shamu necklace. This is so that the child will "believe" in their dreams/destiny. Ahhhh, its all rather emotional, or just plain sappy depending on your perspective!

The Shamu Stadium has been redesigned and is now the venue for this new 25 minute Sea World show. It is really popular and runs throughout the day - up to six times a day in fact! Make sure to get a seat about 15-20 minutes before the show starts because the stadium will get full fast! And of course if you sit in the nearest 20 rows to the stage, expect to get wet!

The set itself is visually pleasing. The centerpiece features a huge whale tail that reaches three storeys high. Either side of this there are four giant LED screens that move and rotate once the show begins. That way you get to see close ups of all the tricks and jumps performed in the show, including underwater shots of the whales and trainers!



Believe features a great soundtrack. The show was choreographed to a musical piece recorded by the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra in Prague.

Sea World Shows: Shamu Rocks Around The World

Shamu Rocks is the last show of the day at the Shamu Stadium, and it seems that Sea World Orlando have saved their best until last. Unlike 'Believe', there's no attempt to be educational or get a particular message across. Nope, it all about Shamu rockin 'n' rolling across the world in his own concert show with some up-tempo songs accompanied by a spectacular and colorful light display. This nightime show makes the killer whale performances look even more amazing!

This Sea World show is the most up-tempo and energetic. It features music from Latin beats to hip hop to classic rock 'n' roll tunes. The show begins with a high-tech introductory video shown on the massive LED screen. It shows killer whales, tropical fish and jelly fish in a beautiful coral reef. The video continues throughout the show, completely in sync with the music and the performances.

Don't miss this! I think a lot a of people prefer this to 'Believe' because it has more energy and an electric atmosphere. Although, the tricks that the whales do are essentially the same in both shows. So, if you don't have time for both, just pick one to go to and you won't miss out!
