Discovery Cove Florida is famous for its swimming with dolphins experiences. You have the chance to swim and play with one of the 30 bottlenose dolphins at Discovery Cove Orlando Florida.

The park has many more attractions including a coral reef in which you can snorkel and observe an array of tropical fish. There are also barracudas and sharks, but these are safely behind glass enclosures!

Discovery Cove Florida: Dolphin Experience

For many people, to swim with dolphins is a truly magical and exiting experience, one that can be treasured for years to come. Discovery Cove Orlando offers this dolphin encounter on reservations-only basis. This is to ensure that you get ample time to make the most of your time in water and of course it's great with no large crowds of people to spoil it!

Your experience begins with an introduction by the trainers about dolphin behaviour and how to communicate with them through hand signals and gestures. After that you get into a deep lagoon with 2/3 other families, this is your chance to meet the dolphins. You can hug, kiss and play with them, you can even hold onto their fins and they'll pull you along the lagoon -which is quite fast and exhilarating!

Discovery Cove Florida: More Activities

Discovery Cove is most famous for its' dolphin encounters, but also there is much more wildlife to see.

Avairy - There is an aviary that holds over 250 tropical birds, some of these are pictured below. There are small bowls of fruit available and you can feed them. The birds will happily perch on your shoulder! What a great photo opportunity!

Coral Reef - If you fancy more water-based activities there’s a coral reef which holds many tropical fish. Explore the underwater world and see what you can find among the sunken ship, coral reefs and hidden grottos.

Snorkelling - You can also snorkel and swim alongside cow-nosed rays.

Lazy River - After all that swimming why not take a trip down the lazy river and take in the tropical surrounding including waterfalls, freshwater lagoons and all the beautiful plants.

Discovery Cove Florida: FAQs & Things To Bring

What do I need to bring with me?

The park experience is all inclusive this includes:- breakfast and lunch, including drinks, parking, special dolphin friendly sunscreen, towels, beach chairs, wetsuits, lockers, snorkel masks. You may bring along books, magazines, CD player with headphones and of course a camera!

What’s the minimum age requirement?

Guests must be at least 6 years old for the dolphin experience
You must be at least 15 years old to enter the park without an accompanying adult.
You must be at least 13 years old to take part in the dolphin experience without adult accompaniment.

Can I bring my own food and drink?

Discovery Cove provides all food and drink as part of the package, they don’t allow any coolers or any other food and drink into the park.

How can I film my dolphin experience?

Video cameras and camera are allowed throughout the park except in the dolphin lagoon areas. You can film and take photos of the dolphin area from the beach side, which is quite close by. Discovery Cove Orlando has its’ own recording equipment set up to film and photograph your whole dolphin experience, so you won’t miss anything! Of course, this means that you can purchase DVDs, posters, photos for a price(!) - depending on what package you choose.

What provisions are there for disabled guests?

The park can provide special wheelchairs with extra large tires for all beach and water activities. As long as you can manoeuvre yourself (or with the aid of a carer) while in the wheelchair, the park can accommodate you. Call ahead to reserve a wheelchair at 1-877-4-DISCOVERY.
