The Buena Vista Palace Hotel & Spa is located on Disney property directly across from Downtown Disney. This is the tallest building on Disney grounds at 27 storys high!

This hotel has many benefits of being on-site at Disney, but it isn't strictly a Disney resort hotel, but a 'Downtown Disney Hotel'. What's the difference? Well, the Disney resort hotels are owned and operated by Disney, the Downtown Disney Hotels are not. You'll still be able to get free parking and free shuttles to all Disney theme parks, but you won't be able to have merchandise delivered to your room.

The Buena Vista Palace was formerly the Wyndham Palace Resort & Spa. In 2005, the hotel was extensively renovated. Today this hotel caters primarily to convention-goers. Plenty of families do visit, but the number of business and convention guests far out-weigh the families.
